EPR Authorization from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)

The EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) deals under the Rules of E-Waste (Management and handlings) year 2011. Under this rule, the producers of electrical or electronics equipment hold responsibility for management of equipment after the lifecycle ends.

According to the environmental policy, indicated producer holds the responsibility, for minimizing environmental effect. The producer is also responsible for management of product and their waste. It is extended throughout the entire life cycle of the product.

According to Rule 13 (1) (ii), (iii) & (vi) of E – Waste (Management) Rules, 2016:

Authorization to Producers of the Electrical & Electronic Equipment (EEE) can be refused, granted, or renewed as per the mandate issued to the Central pollution control board has been mandated to grant, renew or refuse Extended producers responsibility (EPR).

The direction made on the implementation of E-Waste (Management) Rules by Central pollution control board in the year 2016 includes specific direction for Producers and other stakeholders for extended producer responsibility (EPR) Authorization, storage, channelization, collection, recycling, refurbishment, transportation, and environmentally sound dismantling.
